Klamath Falls is located in Eastern Oregon just 70 short miles east of Medford. We consider this beautiful & peaceful area to be "Oregon's best kept secret"! On an average day looking south you can see Mt. Shasta. There are days when the mountain appears to be right on the edge of the city! The view is spectacular, just one more of K Falls claims to fame.....
Called 'The Sunshine City', we have sun about 300 days of the year. How many other communities can make that statement with four definite seasons? The winter and spring days are brisk and at times down right COLD, but the summers and early falls are warm with temps usually in the mid 70's to 80's.
Our wild life is something of a natural wonder. The White Pelicans return each year to entertain us with their graceful flight. These prehistoric birds fit in perfectly with the natural beauty of our massive Klamath Lake, Winema Lake and the Link River.
The Bald Eagle is a well noted crowd pleaser in the Klamath Basin. Bird watches come from all over in February to see these magnificent creatures.
Klamath Falls was originally called Linkville. In 1893 the business community wanted to inspire new growth into the basin. It was decided that changing the town name to Klamath Falls would give the town a sense of prosperity. So, hoping to entice new commerce, the town name was changed.
We love our historic county and take great pride in sharing our knowledge of past generations and events that helped to form this inspiring place we call home.
